An Israeli court has reportedly ordered the demolition of a Palestinian football field in the occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the regime continues its expansionist policies.

According to a report by Ma’an news agency, the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, a local Palestinian group, said Thursday that the owners of the property, located in the Silwan neighborhood, received the demolition order in the mail 70 days after it was issued.

The court had issued the verdict in early June, the committee said, adding that the order gives the recipient 30 days to lodge an appeal, which in this case has already expired.

The order includes the demolition of a football field, a nearby warehouse and an animal shed adjacent to it.

Ahmad Qaraeen, a member of the committee, said the judiciary order stated that if the property owners choose to object to the ruling, they would be fined and forced to pay demolition and debris removal fees.

Qaraeen said that the Israeli regime’s municipality in al-Quds had first attempted to seize the land in 2007 and turn it into a parking lot following a court order, but the ruling was appealed and overturned in court.

The owners later built a football field on the property in 2009 after receiving a permit from the court.

So far this year, the Israeli regime has demolished about 370 Palestinian-owned properties in al-Quds, a move which has led to the displacement of over 430 Palestinian residents, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

In defiance to the international community, the Israeli regime has continued its policy of seizing Palestinian lands and expanding illegal settlements there for decades.

More than half a million Israelis live in over 120 illegal settlements built since Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories in 1967.
