Egypt’s ousted President Mohamed Morsi’s trial has been adjourned due to his poor health condition, Press TV reports.

A prison doctor recommended that Morsi not attend the court session on Wednesday as a cautionary measure against any problem he may face due to his "low blood sugar levels."

Following the recommendation, the trial, previously set for July 22, over allegations of Morsi's spying for a foreign country and passing of secret documents to Qatar was adjourned to August 2.

Ten members of the Muslim Brotherhood were to tried along with Morsi.

Morsi also faces a trial on July 27 for allegedly insulting judiciary officials.

Meanwhile, Morsi’s lawyers said on July 20 they were preparing an appeal in the Court of Cassation against the death sentence handed down to the ousted president for allegedly plotting jailbreaks and attacks on police during the 2011 revolution that toppled decades-long dictator Hosni Mubarak.

The defense team says the appeal will be targeting the jurisdiction of the court.

Morsi, who is Egypt’s first democratically elected president, still considers himself as the legitimate leader of the country and does not recognize the jurisdiction of the court to try him.

Meanwhile, Egyptians fear that calls by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for the judiciary to expedite the trials related to terrorism cases will result in the imminent execution of Morsi and hundreds of top Brotherhood figures, including the group's leader Mohamed Badie.

Brotherhood leaders, however, say Sisi, who acted as defense minister and the head of the armed forces at the time of Morsi's overthrow in July 2013, will be held responsible for Morsi's well-being in prison, and warned that their "peaceful opposition will end" if any harm comes to Morsi.
