Iran MP slams global powers’ policies for world crises

Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran's Parliament (Majlis) Alaeddin Boroujerdi (R) meets with Méguerditch Tarazian, the president of MSF France in the Iranian capital of Tehran on June 27, 2015.

A senior Iranian lawmaker says the wrong policies of global powers are to blame for the current conflicts in many parts of the world.

Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran's Parliament (Majlis) Alaeddin Boroujerdi made the comments in a meeting with Méguerditch Tarazian, the president of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) France, in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Saturday.

“The policies of world powers are the main factor behind the continuation of the current unstable situation in many parts of the globe,” he said.

The Iranian official denounced the indifference toward the crimes committed at the hands of terrorists groups as the main reason for the spread of this “heinous phenomenon” in the world.

Boroujerdi also voiced the Islamic Republic’s readiness to expand cooperation with the MSF, also known as Doctors Without Borders, across the globe.

Tarazian, for his part, hailed Iran’s assistance to the humanitarian organization’s project in the region, adding that cooperation between Tehran and the MSF could set an example for other regional states.

In a separate meeting with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Tarazian asked Iran to share its experience in the field of medicine with the organization and provide it with medical assistance.

Amir-Abdollahian, for his part, said the Islamic Republic is prepared to supply medical equipment and medicine to conflict-ravaged Middle Eastern and African countries.
