At least 27 people, including many children, have lost their lives after a clinic caught fire in the northeastern Syrian province of Hasakah.
According to the Syria's official SANA news agency, 27 civilians were killed and 30 were injured, mostly children, when a fuel tank exploded in the Maysalun clinic in the city of Qamishli.
The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported a huge explosion in the medical clinic as a result of the fire.
The London-based group further explained that the explosion of a gas cylinder in the clinic caused the ignition of several oxygen cylinders there which in turn caused the spread of the fire.

Welati, a Kurdish news site, also reported that the incident happened while a group of parents were taking their children to the clinic for regular vaccination.
The victims of the incident in the Kurdish majority city were children, their mothers and the staff of the facility.
The development comes as Syrians across the country are suffering from the scourge of foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists.
Syria has been fighting the foreign-backed militants, who are fueling violence in the country, for over four years. According to the UK-based monitoring group in excess of 222,000 people have been killed in the crisis to date.
The United Nations says over 3.8 million Syrians have sought refuge in other countries to flee the deadly crisis in Syria and over 7.2 million others have become displaced internally.
