4 killed, 28 wounded in double bombings in Syria’s Homs
Twin bombings have left four civilians dead and 28 others wounded in Syria’s western city of Homs.
Two motorcycles were used in the terrorist attacks, one of which detonated on al-Ahram Street and the other in the al-Zahra neighborhood of Homs, a local source told Syria’s official news agency, SANA.
Hospital sources confirmed that 28 people, mostly women or children, were injured in the two attacks.
The governor of Homs said the terrorists aimed to ruin the celebrations marking the first anniversary of restoring peace and security to the Old City in Homs Province.
Talal al-Barazi said the big celebrations in Homs were a “symbol of the return of all aspects of life to the neighborhoods of the city and the return of its locals to rebuild what has been destroyed at the hands of the Takfiri terrorists.”
Barazi added that the bombings, which targeted residential areas, show the terrorists’ true nature.
He added that the residents of Homs would remain steadfast in rebuilding their homeland and defending it as well as supporting the Syrian army in its war against terrorism.
More than 220,000 people have reportedly been killed and millions displaced due to the crisis in Syria since March 2011, when foreign-backed militancy erupted in the Arab country.
