It's yet more anti Muslim sentiment. Asif Bodi and Abubakar Bhula spent the half time period of Liverpool's match with Blackburn Rovers on the 8th of April to pray their evening prayers. Another fan Stephen Dodd then took a photo of the two men in worship and branded them a disgrace on twitter. The status was met with widespread criticism on social media.
The rise of Islamophobia in the UK is a concern for many. But British Muslims want to know why that is the case and why very little is being done to combat it.
The rise of far right Anti Islam groups across Europe has led to much dismay among the Muslim community. But critics argue that Islamophobia is now more mainstream and it is not just the far right who partake in it. Government legislation like the counter terrorism and security act is seen as a prime example of this as something that simply targets the Muslim community.
As Islamophobia continues to rise campaigners are calling for the next government to take a tougher stance against this growing problem.
