Afghan Forces Achieve Big Success in Offensive Against Taliban in South

These Afghan forces have an incredible sense of euphoria because their battle against Taliban militants ended with many accomplishments.
They fought against Taliban in Helmand for two months and while it was not their first operation, it was a significant one:
Afghan soldiers knew that it is a big test for them to prove they can defend their country. It was a very tough test and they suffered some casualties.
But they also managed to inflict a huge blow on their enemy. Around 500 Taliban militants were killed and hundreds of others were captured alive. And now the government in Kabul has a long list of achievements they made during this massive operation in Helmand.
Helmand is a very strategic province. It lies on the border with Pakistan, allowing Taliban militants to go to their hideouts in Pakistani tribal areas when they face resistance. But when Afghan forces pack up and leave, they come back.
So it is not all over. The Afghan military now needs to hold those places that are no more under the control of terrorists in Helmand. Yes, it is not easy. But if they fail to maintain their control, the progress may reverse.
