Jamat-e-Islami, Pakistan’s largest religious party has staged a protest rally outside the Lahore Press Club in Lahore to denounce the attack on its members during their election campaign rally in Karachi.
Protestors carried anti-MQM banners and chanted anti-MQM slogans, slamming them for using their harbored terror elements to carry out such attacks on rallies of other political parties.
Party leaders said, Karachi has been living in fear waves for the past 30 years and needs to be freed from occupation of such terror groups in political parties.
The rally also criticized the provincial and federal government for not taking notice of the violence in Karachi and being silent over the matter.
But Mutahida Qaumi Movement has brushed aside the allegations as propaganda taimed at maligning their party and has condemned the attacks on political gatherings.
Jamat-e-Islami has vowed to continue its election campaign in Karachi and strive till Karachi becomes a peaceful place where voice of the people is the final decision.
Jamat-e-Islami has slammed terror elements used to attack their rallies in Karachi. They have called on the government to take action against the ongoing violence, which they say is a strategy to spread fear among the voters.
