Chicago torture capital of US: Activist

This file photo shows protesters marching to slam brutality against African Americans in Chicago.

Joe Iosbaker, with the United National Anti-war Coalition, in Chicago was interviewed by Press TV to share his thoughts on a report revealing that a secret Chicago interrogation compound known as Homan Square isolates suspects from family members and denies them proper access to legal counsels.

Iosbaker says the revelation could have a “very enormous” impact on Chicago’s ruling elite, adding that it could motivate African- Americans to fight for real change. He also believes that Chicago is the torture capital of the United States and the Chicago police department is an occupying army in the communities of African-Americans and Latinos.

Iosbaker further argues the only solution to this problem is that the power over the police be taken out of the hands of the mayor of Chicago, who has shown no ability and interest in bringing an end to this legacy of police crimes.
