Iranians in Kish Island on the northeast of the Persian Gulf have welcomed their guests for the eighth international Exhibition of Tourism, Hospitality and Related Industries. There's a reason it is being held on Kish Island. Due to its free trade zone status, the island is touted as a consumer's paradise, with numerous malls, shopping centers, tourist attractions, and resort hotels. Yet, Kish is one out of countless tourist spots in Iran.
Iran is rated among the most touristic countries in the world and in recent years, it has witnessed a significant rise in demand among tourists.
Iran's tourism industry is booming, with more foreign travelers visiting the country than ever before. Iran's President, Hassan Rouhani, is hoping the country to attract 10 million international tourists each year, an increase from 4 million. The country currently attracts predominantly medical and religious tourists, although this is all expected to change as Iran develops new relationships with foreign nations. The participants in the 8th international tourism exhibition also noted Iran's potential to further excel in the industry.

Iran is expected to attract some 20 million foreign tourists by 2025 and Kish Island, with its numerous tourist attractions, will largely contribute to the attainment of this goal.
