Protesters demand end to UK deportation practices

As guards and police officers kept protestors and the media from getting too close to Heathrow Immigration and Removal Centre, the chants of the demonstrators would have been heard by the hundreds behind the barbed wired gates. As one of the final destinations for those who fail in their bid to be granted asylum, it was the perfect location to stage an anti-deportation rally.
The Home Office has long insisted that it has the right to protect Britain's borders by any method necessary but anti-deportation campaigners they say the methods used are simply inhumane and people simply wanted to be treated with dignity.
Despite two rulings by British courts that the accelerated system of processing applications is unlawful and ahead of the results of a parliamentary enquiry on the issue, the Home Office is yet to backtrack. With many of the immigration centres run by private contractors, there have been allegations of mistreatment.
Protestors say they will simply continue the fight until the government enacts policies that treats those seeking sanctuary with the dignity they deserve.
