Gunshots fired at University of South Carolina
Multiple gunshots have been fired at a university campus in the US state of South Carolina.
The shooting took place Thursday at the University of South Carolina’s School of Public Health in downtown Columbia, the state capital.
The shooting happened a couple of blocks from the State House, which houses the state’s government, including the General Assembly and the offices of the governor and lieutenant governor.
There was no immediate word on injuries or the number of suspects who might be involved. All University of South Carolina buildings remain on lockdown.
The University issued two alerts through its emergency system and Twitter. The alerts said people should seek safe shelter and remain indoors.
