Press TV has conducted an interview with Alexander Nekrassov, a former adviser to the Russian government from London, and Ian Williams, a senior analyst at Foreign Policy in Focus from New York, to discuss escalating tensions between Russia and the western countries over the crisis in Ukraine.

Nekrassov says the Kiev government’s lack of interest in peace talks with pro-Russian forces is the main obstacle in the way of ending the bloody turmoil in Ukraine.

He further added that Moscow has the right to respond and defend its territories as the NATO military alliance and foreign countries such as the US are seeking to encircle R HRM/MKAussia and re-draw the map of Eastern Europe.

Meanwhile, Williams believes that in a situation that pro-Russian forces are still carrying out military operations against the central government of Ukraine, nobody can expect officials in Kiev to be interested in peace negotiations.
