Thousands of supporters of President Nicolas Maduro gather in downtown Caracas for a demonstration in his support.

"On July 28, we Venezuelans went out to vote freely for the Constitution and Nicolas Maduro was the winner," says Manuel Eduardo Echenique, a protester.

Maduro himself delivered a speech at a rally outside the Miraflores presidential palace. He said that Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, who ran against him in the last elections and accused him of fraud in his re-election, is "preparing his escape from Venezuela".

"He's hiding in a cave. And he's preparing for his escape from Venezuela. Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia is taking the money and going to Miami," Maduro told supporters.
