Veteran military commander and strategist Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr has been appointed as the new head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei has vowed revenge for the assassination of top Iranian officials by the US and Israel.

Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, condoles the martyrdom of Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, in a "terrorist act" by the US and the Israeli regime.

Dr. Ali Larijani, veteran Iranian statesman and top security official, was martyred in US-Israeli attack with his son and aides. A philosopher, nuclear negotiator, and long-time parliament speaker, he devoted his life to the Islamic Republic.

As the Iranian capital gears up for a massive funeral honoring 84 martyred sailors of the IRIS Dena, top officials declared that the cowardly assassination of these naval heroes will only make the foundation of the country's armed forces "firmer for years."

Larijani drew a historical parallel between Trump's comments and those of the former prime minister of the deposed US-backed Pahlavi regime during the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Larijani says Iran is firmly punishing the aggressors, but it fundamentally opposes terrorist attacks.
