The Israeli army has launched a large-scale military exercises in the occupied Golan Heights, following the regime’s assassination of a senior commander of Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah.

The United Nations has raised concerns about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent visit to the buffer zone on the Syrian side of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Israeli forces have carried out several raids into southern Syria’s Quneitra and Daraa and made three arrests, according to several reports.

Israel conducts new airstrikes and a raid by helicopter-borne troops on a southern suburb of the Syrian capital, Damascus. 

At least one person has been killed after Israeli aircraft launched an attack against a village in Syria’s strategic southwestern province of Quneitra.

Israeli troops regularly carry out raids across various parts of Syria following collapse of Assad government in December.

Far-right finance minister Bezalel Smotrich says the military will remain in the area "for the defense of the Golan Heights settlements.”
