The Iranian foreign minister says the European troika’s move to trigger the snapback mechanism of sanctions on Iran will turn it into a permanently spent force.

The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry slams the European signatories to the US-abandoned nuclear deal for triggering the restoration of UN sanctions, saying the move shows the E3’s “obedience” to Washington.

In a letter to the UN chief, Iran urged all Security Council members “to reject the unjustified political manipulations and to uphold the integrity of international law and authority of the Council.”back mechanism under the 2015 nuclear deal, calling the move “legally baseless” and a “dangerous precedent.”

Iran has rejected efforts by Britain, France, and Germany—known as the E3—to reinstate UN sanctions lifted under Resolution 2231 (2015), calling the move “invalid and ineffective.”
