Baby from asylum seeker family found dead on Greek island of Agathonisi
Another tragedy in the refugee crisis: A newborn boy from an asylum seeker family has been found dead on the shores of a Greek island. The two-month-old Syrian baby was found in a boat traveling from Turkey to the island of Agathonisi. He was pronounced dead later at a hospital in the nearby island of Samos. His death comes as many have galvanized efforts to help asylum seekers after the death of a 3-year-old refugee boy came to surface days ago. Pictures of Aylan Kurdi’s death went viral, sparking outrage and drawing attention to the worsening migrant crisis in Europe. He was making the same journey toward Greece with his family. Greece is struggling to cope with a wave of asylum seekers fleeing the war in Syria. Thousands are waiting to be identified and ferried to Athens to continue their trip to other European countries.
