Intense fighting has erupted in Syria’s southern province of Sweida between members of a Druze group and armed elements affiliated with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies, leaving several individuals wounded, report say.

Syria’s Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) forces open fire on large-scale protests led by the country’s Alawite minority in the coastal regions in another act of sectarian violence.

Tensions have grown between Syria’s new military and the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) as the US-sponsored Kurdish-led militant group says the HTS-led regime is facilitating attacks by the Daesh terrorist group.
