Head of the Executive Council of Hezbollah, Sheikh Ali Damoush, says there definitely will not be a change in Israel’s aggressive policies with a replacement for prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet and the formation of a new administration.
“The expansionist nature of the Zionist enemy will not alter with the replacement of the incumbent prime minister and ruling political currents. Assertions about parliamentary elections in the Israeli-occupied territories, and a policy change vis-à-vis Lebanon and the rest of West Asia are false and mistaken,” the senior Hezbollah official noted on Friday.
He added that most of Israeli political parties concur with the expropriation of Palestinian land, genocide, aggression, and denial of the inalienable rights of Palestinians.
“There is not much difference between Israeli political factions concerning their fundamental positions,” Sheikh Damoush pointed out.
Early on Friday, the Central Elections Committee (CEC) published the final results of the October 27 vote.
Neither Netanyahu’s bloc nor the opposition coalition headed by Gadi Eisenkot has obtained the majority required to form a cabinet. Both leaders have also ruled out working with the Arab-led parties, the United Arab List, or Ra’am and the Joint List.
Netanyahu's coalition obtained 53 seats in the 120-member Knesset, whereas the opposition coalition headed by Eisenkot garnered 48 seats.
Ra’am and the Joint List secured a combined 19 seats.
A political party must win at least 61 seats in order to form a government.
Netanyahu is now set to remain caretaker prime minister after the inconclusive Israeli election.
Lebanon should place high priority on developing ties with Iran
Elsewhere in his remarks on Friday, Sheikh Damoush commended the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for Lebanon and its assistance to liberate Israeli-occupied Lebanese territories and confront the regime’s naked aggression.
The head of the Executive Council of Hezbollah described expansion of relations with Iran as an immediate priority for Lebanon, emphasizing that enhancement of ties with the Islamic Republic requires all Lebanese political parties to properly understand regional developments and take advantage of them for national interests.
“Although formation of a powerful, supportive, and responsible government that defends the rights of all Lebanese nationals on the basis of peaceful coexistence is an absolute necessity, armed resistance is a legitimate and natural right to confront the Zionist enemy whilst national sovereignty is under attack and the Beirut government is unable to liberate remaining occupied lands from Israel’s claws,” Sheikh Damosuh said.
The high-ranking Hezbollah official emphasized that the weapons of resistance are used solely to liberate Israeli-occupied Lebanese territories, secure repatriation of displaced families to their areas of origin, and ensure reconstruction.
“Once all these goals are fully achieved, there will be the chance of dialogue with all parties committed to safeguarding Lebanon’s security,” Sheikh Damoush stated.
