Israeli forces have raided at least 13 towns across the northern part of the occupied West Bank, abducting dozens of Palestinians, as hundreds of families on the southern side of the territory were ordered to evacuate their homes following a successful resistance operation.
The raids targeted several cities and towns, including Nablus, Jenin, Tubas, and Qalqilya, multiple local and international news outlets reported on Saturday.
Israeli troops also forced their way into Jericho and the nearby Aqabat Jabr refugee camp.
Separately, hundreds of Palestinian families were ordered to evacuate their homes in the Ein Deir Bahha area and its surroundings.
In al-Khalil (Hebron), the regime’s forces surrounded the home of one of the suspects in the Friday shooting operation, which resulted in the deaths of two Israeli forces, and raided the city’s al-Jalda neighborhood.
Israeli media have identified the slain forces as Staff Sergeant Ron Yonatan Roytman, 23, and Sergeant Yuval Shai Svilem, 20.
Two Palestinians, Mohammad Jaaba and Firas Jaaba, both 27-year-old residents of al-Khalil, were fatally shot during the operation.
The Israeli military alleged that the two initially planned an attack against illegal settlers on Route 35, but opened fire at a temporary checkpoint after realizing they could not reach the highway.
The regime’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, subsequently held a “security assessment” with senior officials and ordered preparations for a complete lockdown across the West Bank.
The Popular Resistance Committees praised the operation, describing it as a response to Israeli atrocities against Palestinians. The Gaza-based Hamas resistance movement called the operation “heroic.”
Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement also hailed the operation as a “natural and legitimate response to the Israeli enemy’s ongoing crimes, including killings, genocide, destruction, and attacks on holy sites.”
