Iran ready to defend, open to diplomacy

Iran’s top diplomat says Tehran remains open to diplomacy but will respond to renewed aggression, while the top lawmaker says Hormuz will remain closed until Iran’s conditions are met.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Tehran is serious about both defending itself and pursuing diplomacy. He, however, warns that Iran will respond more forcefully to any renewed aggression.

Stating that the United States failed to isolate the Islamic Republic of Iran in the UN General Assembly, Araghchi said new US sanctions and military pressure won't yield any results.

Also, Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf said the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen unless Iran's conditions are met based on the Islamabad MOU.

As Iran keeps the diplomatic channels open, while preparing for all possible scenarios, what are the prospects for a negotiated end to the conflict and what conditions would be required for the Strait of Hormuz to be reopened?

That’s what we’ll be discussing with our guests in this edition of the program.
