Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif, an adviser to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) commander-in-chief, has warned that US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and their supporters will face the same fate as former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

Sharif, who also heads the Center for Sacred Defense Documents and Research, made the remarks at the 205th public gathering in Tehran’s Baharestan Square on Sunday. His comments came as Iran marks the anniversary of the Sacred Defense, commemorating Iraq’s 1980-1988 war of aggression against the country.

Praising the Iranian people’s resistance and steadfastness against a comprehensive war by the “front of arrogance,” Sharif said the Iranian Armed Forces and people managed to repel a large US-Israeli-NATO coalition.

“By the grace of God and by virtue of the people’s resistance and courage and obedience to the Leader, exactly the same fate that befell Saddam, the Ba’ath regime, and the terrorist groups of Komala [Party of Iranian Kurdistan] and Democratic [Party of Iranian Kurdistan] will befall Trump, Netanyahu, and all their supporters,” he said.

The commander noted that the enemy turned to sanctions and economic pressure after its offensive tools were exhausted and after its defeat on the battlefield.

He also argued that the recent US-Israeli war exposed the “hollow and empty” nature of the US military to military personnel and experts around the world, while demonstrating the strength of Iran’s culture of resistance.

The US and the Israeli regime waged their first criminal war against Iran, which lasted 12 days, in June 2025. Their second aggression began on February 28, 2026, and came to a halt in early April after 40 days.

In both wars, Iran’s resistance and successful retaliatory operations forced the aggressors to accept a ceasefire.

Iran has also maintained a tight grip on the Strait of Hormuz since the early days of the second imposed war.

In July, the US conducted waves of deadly air raids on Iran and imposed a naval blockade of the country in violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamic Republic, signed on June 17, to end the war.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces launched devastating strikes against strategic American targets across West Asia and declared the Strait of Hormuz closed to all traffic.
