Iran dismisses White House accusations as ‘flight from reality,’ ‘act of projection’

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has dismissed the latest accusations leveled by the White House spokesperson against Tehran, describing them as a “flight from reality” and an “act of projection.”

In a post on his X account on Saturday, Baghaei responded to “a lengthy list of accusations” made by the White House against Iran.

He said with striking precision, many of the allegations made against Tehran in fact correspond to actions that have been initiated, carried out, or supported by the United States itself.

“This flight from reality and act of projection should come as no surprise,” the Iranian spokesperson wrote.

Baghaei concluded his remarks by citing a verse from the Book of Proverbs: “The wicked flee when no one is pursuing.”

Gharibabadi: US cannot evade responsibility for war crimes by leaving UN rights council

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi says the US cannot evade responsibility for war crimes in Iran by withdrawing from the UN Human Rights Council.

His post came after the United Nations said in a report publicly released on Thursday that the US may have committed war crimes when its strikes hit an elementary school and a sports facility in Iran.

The UN’s Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran said it found “reasonable grounds to believe that the United States committed a war crime by launching indiscriminate attacks that killed or injured civilians or damaged civilian objects.”

On February 28, the very first day that the US and Israel started an unprovoked war against Iran, Washington carried out a strike on a crowded sports facility in Lamerd, using a Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), killing 21 young people who were inside the venue at the time and injuring another 100.

The attack occurred the same day as a US Tomahawk cruise missile struck Minab's Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school, several hundred miles away, killing 175 people. Many victims were girls and boys between seven and twelve years old, while 26 female teachers were also killed.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly told news outlets the Human Rights Council has “accomplished nothing for human rights while spouting unserious nonsense for decades.”

Kelly added, “The only party in this conflict that has committed war crimes is the Iranian regime.”
