Iran attacks US warships: Shift in military equation?

The rules of engagement in West Asia have changed. At least for Iran, as the country has, in the past couple of weeks, seen a number of military brass reiterating a shift in military doctrine from defensive to offensive posturing.

Over the past few days, the US has launched attacks against civilians and infrastructure in Iran's southern belt. And just Saturday, US warships targeted three Iranian oil tankers after Iran's armed forces fired ballistic missiles against a number of US military vessels in the Persian Gulf. So, yes, the equation is changing.

Iran’s parliament speaker warns that the country has abandoned proportionality; Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf says the US will now get faster, heavier and more painful responses if it launches new acts of aggression against Iran. Iran's changing deterrence dynamic and its outcomes for the country and region are the focus of this spotlight.
