Three killed, 23 wounded in fresh Israeli strikes on Lebanon
At least three people have been killed and 23 others wounded in fresh Israeli strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon, according to the country’s health ministry, which described the toll as preliminary.
The ministry said the casualties were reported after Israeli bombing hit multiple areas in the Nabatieh district and the Bekaa Valley.
The latest strikes came as Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory continued, despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024.
A correspondent with Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen news channel reported that Israeli artillery shelling and warplane strikes targeted the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, while an Israeli drone strike hit the nearby town of Kfar Roummen.
The drone strike killed two people, according to the correspondent.
Israeli warplanes also struck al-Ramadiyeh and al-Kfour, both in the Nabatieh District.
Israeli forces separately carried out controlled demolitions in al-Mansouri and on the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiya.
In the eastern Bekaa Valley, an Israeli airstrike targeted the town of Ain al-Tineh.
The ministry said the casualty figure remained an initial count and could change as rescue and recovery operations continued.
Friday's casualties add to the pattern of Israeli artillery fire and airstrikes across southern Lebanon since the November 2024 ceasefire.
The attacks have included strikes by warplanes and drones, as well as the burning of farmland and demolition of homes and infrastructure.
In June, the Israeli regime and Lebanese authorities reached a separate so-called “framework agreement” under controversial US mediation. The “agreement” outlined an Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, with the Lebanese army assuming control of the area and Hezbollah disarming.
Hezbollah has firmly rejected the disarmament demand, particularly in the absence of an Israeli withdrawal.

Also in June, Iran and the United States reached a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding mandating cessation of aggression on all fronts, including Lebanon.
The Islamic Republic has, accordingly, called on the US to pressure the Israeli regime into ceasing its aggression against Lebanon, lambasting Washington over its failure to commit to the terms of the understanding.
