US bombing wedding in Iran aimed at creating illusion of victory through fear: Analyst
George Katsiaficas, Author and university professor, says a classified Pentagon assessment shows senior US military commanders no longer believe Washington can sustain its current level of operations against Iran, describing this as a major factor behind the renewed escalation.
He argues that Iran, meanwhile, maintains the capacity to strike back, while US actions, including attacks on civilian sites, reflect frustration over failed sanctions, pressure from allies, and political panic ahead of midterm elections.
He contrasts Iran’s approach, rooted in what he calls a strong ethical framework, with decades of US military conduct, noting that Iranian strikes have expanded across the region while Washington downplays the damage.
According to the analyst, recent US attacks serve mainly as propaganda aimed at projecting strength to the American public.
