Pezeshkian stresses ‘all-out readiness’ as he congratulates six new commanders

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has congratulated the appointments of six senior officials to critical positions, emphasizing the need for stronger coordination among the armed forces and the development of defense and technological capabilities.

In a message to Major General Ali Abdollahi on Tuesday, Pezeshkian said the Iranian security, independence and territorial integrity require “vigilance, coordination and all-out readiness,” describing the position of Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces as strategically important.

“The experience you have gained in various command positions and your effective presence in the field of defending the country will be a valuable asset in carrying out this important responsibility.”

The president said Iran’s strength depends not only on its defense capabilities but also on greater unity and coordination among the armed forces and the use of the scientific expertise and modern defense capacities.

Pezeshkian said the government regards the armed forces as a pillar of Iran’s “power, security and independence.”

In a separate message to Major General Ahmad Vahidi following his appointment as commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Pezeshkian said the IRGC was an important institution in defending Iran and protecting national security.

He said Vahidi’s experience in various military and managerial positions, particularly in defense affairs, would provide a solid foundation for leading the IRGC as it enters a new phase of its missions.

“Strengthening deterrence, enhancing scientific and technological capabilities, utilizing the scientific and spiritual potential of young people and elites, and maintaining readiness to defend Iran, alongside helping strengthen national cohesion, are among the requirements for the country’s power,” Pezeshkian said.

The president also underscored the importance of cooperation between the government and the IRGC in serving the Iranian people, saying greater solidarity and cooperation among state institutions and the armed forces are necessary to navigate the current sensitive circumstances.

Pezeshkian also issued messages congratulating Hossein Taeb on his appointment as head of the Basij Organization, Brigadier General Ali Ozamaei as commander of the IRGC Navy, Major General Mostafa Izadi as deputy commander-in-chief of the IRGC, and Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari as deputy chief of staff of the Armed Forces.

In his message to Taeb, Pezeshkian highlighted the Basij’s broad human resources, calling for greater use of the capabilities of the youth, experts and academics to strengthen social cohesion.

Regarding Ozamaei’s appointment, the president placed a premium on securing Iran’s maritime borders and protecting the national interests at sea, notably amid regional and international developments that have increased the significance of waterways surrounding Iran.

In his message to General Izadi, Pezeshkian said the IRGC’s deputy commander-in-chief must combine military and managerial experience with an understanding of rapidly evolving defense and security conditions.

In his message to Heydari, the president said the increasingly complex and multilayered threats and opportunities facing Iran made greater preparedness, coordination among the armed forces and reliance on valuable defense and operational experience a strategic necessity.
