Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has congratulated Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and the Cuban people on the anniversary of the country’s revolution, expressing hope for deeper ties between the two countries.

In a message addressed to Díaz-Canel, Pezeshkian on Friday described the Cuban revolution as “a historic event that symbolizes the struggle of the heroic Cuban people for independence, social justice and the preservation of human dignity,” according to Iran’s presidency.

The Iranian president said Tehran is ready to expand relations with Havana and voiced hope for closer cooperation between the two nations.

“I hope to witness further deepening of relations between the two great and revolutionary nations of Iran and Cuba,” Pezeshkian said.

He also wished Díaz-Canel good health and success and expressed hopes for the well-being and prosperity of the “heroic Cuban people.”

Iran and Cuba share a long history of anti-colonial struggle and a commitment to defending national sovereignty, which has shaped their diplomatic and political relations.

Both nations have emphasized independence from foreign influence and have sought to strengthen ties with countries that share similar ideals.

Over the years, Iran and Cuba have developed cooperation across political, economic, and scientific fields, reflecting their shared vision of resisting external pressures and promoting self-determined development.

Leaders from both countries have frequently highlighted the historical and revolutionary experiences that underpin their partnership, describing it as rooted in mutual respect, solidarity, and a common commitment to social justice.
