The Palestinian Hamas resistance movement has called on the people in the West Bank to stage a general strike in a show of solidarity with the people in the Gaza Strip some 80 kilometers away.
Amid continuous Israeli attacks across Gaza, Hamas leader Abdul Rahman Shadid said on Sunday that the nonstop Israeli atrocities leave Palestinians no choice other than to rise against them.
"With the ongoing crimes, genocide, and ethnic cleansing of our people in Gaza, and the aggression, abuse, and Judaization practiced by the occupation and its settlers in the West Bank, we have no choice but to rise up against the occupation and ignite all points of contact."
Shadid stressed it was the duty of Palestinians in the West Bank to play their national role by showing their support for the brave Gazans standing in defiance of the Israeli regime forces despite the genocidal war waged against them.
"All our people in the West Bank must play their crucial and important national role, especially in light of the horrific massacres and brutal crimes being perpetrated against their brothers in the Gaza Strip," he said.
Shadid emphasized that all Palestinians had a duty to stand up against the usurping regime.
"Everyone from our people and our nation must shoulder the responsibility of supporting and confronting this genocide that the Palestinian people are experiencing. It is shameful for any free person to remain silent about what is happening in Gaza and the West Bank and to not lift a finger in the face of the occupation's massacres," he added.
In this regard, Mustafa Barghouti, General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative, asserted during a pro-Gaza rally on Sunday in Ramallah that "the people here in the West Bank are totally with Gaza."
While pointing out that the Israeli forces were attacking Palestinians around the clock all across the occupied land, he insisted that the genocidal war in Gaza must stop immediately.
"We are here demanding the end of this terrible massacre. Every day, Israeli airstrikes kill or mutilate 100 more Palestinian children. Thousands of people have been killed or injured since the activation of this genocide war. We demand immediate stop of this terrible war," the senior Palestinian politician said.
In the meantime, Gaza’s Health Ministry announced on Sunday that at least 50,695 Palestinians have been killed and 115,338 wounded since the Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023.
In addition, thousands of people missing under the rubble are presumed dead.
