The Islamic Jihad resistance movement has paid tribute to martyred Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, saying the revered resistance leader warned of the threat posed to West Asia by Israel’s genocide against Palestinians and the occupation of their land.

Spokesman Mohammed al-Hajj Musa made the remarks after a mass funeral ceremony for Nasrallah and his deputy and appointed successor Sayyed Hashem Safieddine in Beirut on Sunday.

He said that Nasrallah tried to caution that if Israel wins its brutal offensive against Gaza it will “sweep through the entire region.”

“Like a sword trying to split the darkness before dawn, he’s been shouting at those unmoved by Palestine’s bloodshed,” Musa said.

“He warns: if this core issue isn’t addressed and occupation wins in Palestine, it’ll sweep through the entire region.”

The Islamic Jihad spokesman also hailed Nasrallah’s stance on defending Palestine, noting that he spared nothing – not his blood, effort, or his best sons – in that regard.

“All resistance fighters are like his (Nasrallah’s) own children, fighting for this crucial cause. He’s been carrying this burden all along,” he said.

Using US-supplied bunker-busting bombs, Israel assassinated Nasrallah, the longtime leader of Hezbollah, in an airstrike on southern Beirut in September 2024. The following month, the criminal regime assassinated Safieddine in a similar attack.

In a televised speech played at the funeral procession, Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem vowed to remain loyal to Nasrallah’s legacy.

“We will uphold trust and walk on this path, we will uphold your will,” Qassem said, referring to Nasrallah.

On Nasrallah’s watch, Hezbollah opened a support front for Palestinians in Gaza after Israel unleashed its bloody Gaza onslaught on October 7, 2023, launching numerous retaliatory attacks against targets in the occupied lands.

Israel was forced to accept a ceasefire with Hezbollah on November 27, 2024, after suffering heavy losses on the battleground and failing to achieve its goals despite killing over 4,000 people in Lebanon.
