US delivers heavy bombs to Israel as Trump lifts ban on transfer

The United States has delivered a shipment of 1,800 heavy MK-84 bombs to the Israeli regime, ending an almost nine-month freeze by the previous American administration on the transfer.

The Israeli military announced on Sunday that a ship carrying the unguided 2,000-pound (900-kilogram) bombs had docked at Ashdod port in the occupied territories and was unloaded onto dozens of trucks and taken to the regime’s air bases.

Israeli war minister Israel Katz said the shipment “represents a significant asset” for the occupation’s army.

He also thanked US President Donald Trump for releasing the bombs and for their “unwavering support” for the Tel Aviv regime.

The shipment was withheld in May 2024 by the administration of former US president Joe Biden due to its concerns over potential use in densely populated areas of the Gaza Strip, where Israel was waging a genocidal war.

The US government, however, continued to arm the Israeli military with billions of dollars worth of other weaponry.

Last month, Trump lifted the ban on the export of the lethal weapons to Israel, saying, “We released them (the bombs)... And they’ll have them.”

The MK-84 is an American general-purpose aircraft bomb capable of penetrating reinforced targets and causing extensive damage with its strong blast power.

Israel unleashed its bloody Gaza onslaught on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian Hamas resistance group carried out a historic operation against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

US President Donald Trump has reportedly greenlit the transfer of 11-ton bombs, dubbed the Mother of All Bombs, to the Israeli regime, a decision his predecessors had avoided.

Israel was forced to agree to a Gaza ceasefire after it failed to achieve its objectives in the besieged territory despite over 15 months of brutal aggression.

It accepted Hamas’s longstanding negotiation terms under the Gaza truce, which began on January 19.

The US rushed billions of dollars in military aid to the criminal Zionist regime throughout the Gaza offensive.

Over 76,000 tons of military equipment, the vast majority of them from the US, were delivered to Israel in the course of the Gaza genocide, according to the latest figures released by the Israeli ministry of military affairs.
