Israeli forces fire bullets, tear gas at Palestinians awaiting prisoner release outside Ofer Prison

Israeli forces fire bullets, tear gas at Palestinians awaiting prisoner release outside Ofer prison on January 19, 2025.

The Israeli regime forces have attacked, with bullets and teargas canisters, the Palestinian prisoners’ families, who had gathered outside a prison in the occupied West Bank, waiting for their release as part of the ceasefire deal.

The attack was carried out outside Ofer Prison, the day the regime was expected to release 90 of the prisoners as part of a ceasefire deal reached recently with the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.

The agreement, which was initiated on Sunday, is expected to end the regime’s 15-month-long genocidal war on Gaza that has so far claimed the lives of nearly 47,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

Reports said Israeli forces wounded at least seven Palestinians during the attack.

This round of exchange of the regime’s captives with Palestinian prisoners has been marked by strict security measures imposed by the Israeli military and police, allegedly aimed at preventing formation of public gatherings.

Ahead of the prisoner release, the Israeli farces stormed the homes of several female Palestinian prisoners in the holy occupied city of al-Quds.

The occupation troopers also warned their families against celebrating or raising Palestinian flags, with threats that such actions could result in the release being canceled.

This came three days after the Israeli regime’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tel Aviv reserved the so-called "right" to resume its war against Gaza any time it saw fit.

Netanyahu made the remarks, despite the regime’s approval of the deal, and Palestinian resistance movement’s stern warnings against Tel Aviv’s rekindling of the brutal military onslaught.
