The ceasefire recently reached between the Israeli regime and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas will go into force on Sunday morning at 06:30 GMT, according to Qatar.

“As coordinated by the parties to the agreement and the mediators, the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will begin at 8:30 am on Sunday, January 19, local time in Gaza,” Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari announced on X on Saturday.

The spokesman also urged Gaza residents to exercise "utmost caution" and await official directions from authorities.

Khalil al-Hayya, deputy head of the Political Bureau of Hamas, hailed Gazans for triumphing against Israel's 15-month-long war of genocide against the besieged enclave.

“The ceasefire agreement is a result of the legendary steadfastness of our great Palestinian people and our valiant resistance in the Gaza Strip over the past 15 months,” he said.

The Israeli regime agreed to the deal after coming under hundreds of retaliatory operations by Palestinian resistance groups, he added.

He thanked the Islamic Republic, Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement, Yemen’s armed forces, and the Iraqi resistance.

The official especially commended Hezbollah for offering “hundreds of martyrs, leaders and fighters, on the road to [liberation of the holy occupied city of] al-Quds, headed by His Eminence the Secretary-General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah."

The official was referring to thousands of retaliatory operations that were staged by the group, the Yemeni troops, and Iraqi fighters in response to the Israeli regime’s brutal military assault against Gaza and simultaneous escalated deadly aggression towards Lebanon.

He also thanked Palestinian resistance fighters in the occupied West Bank “especially in the heroic Jenin [refugee] camp, in al-Quds, and the occupied interior," who likewise brought pressure to bear on the occupiers during their atrocities.

“Our people and their resistance are imposing an honorable agreement to stop the aggression, [Israeli forces’] withdrawal, and conduct an honorable prisoner exchange, due to their legendary steadfastness and their brave and valiant fighters,” the Palestinian Islamic Jihad said.

The group mourned Gaza’s righteous martyrs, and affirmed that it would spare no effort in order to serve the people in the territory and keep pace with the challenges of the coming stage.
