The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran has hailed the recent strikes by Pakistani military forces against major strongholds of anti-Iran terrorists holed up in remote areas of the country’s southwestern province of Balochistan close to the border with Iran.

In a statement released on Sunday, the most senior military body in Iran also expressed hope for the complete restoration of security along the border between the two Muslim states and the elimination of terror groups through the full implementation of security agreements between Tehran and Islamabad.

“Terrorist groups affiliated with arrogant powers, playing in the hands of the United States and the Zionist regime as mere pawns had set the common border between Iran and Pakistan the scene of their acts of sabotage, and were staging terrorist attacks at both sides of the frontier,” read the statement.

“They were, however, confronted last week as the army of the friendly and brotherly government of Pakistan undertook military operations in the area,” it added.

Accordingly, the Pakistani army undertook an operation on November 5 against a Takfiri terrorist group within its own territory and eliminated several members of the militant outfit in the process.

The statement comes after some media outlets claimed that Iranian and Pakistani forces had carried out a coordinated joint operation against members of the so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group.

The group has carried out numerous terrorist attacks in Iran, primarily in the southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province.

Its tactics include the abduction of border guards as well as targeting civilians and police stations within the province to incite chaos and disorder.

In January, Iran launched a military operation during which the headquarters of the Pakistan-based terrorist group was targeted in missile strikes, destroying its infrastructure.
