At least five people have lost their lives when Israeli aircraft carried out multiple strikes against a number of installations and buildings in the country’s central province of Homs.
The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that three airstrikes struck Jisr al-Daf area south of al-Qusayr city, located about 35 kilometers (22 miles) south of Homs, on Thursday, and several facilities in the city's industrial area.
The observatory said the strikes destroyed the facilities, noting that Syrian air defense systems attempted to intercept and shoot down the incoming Israeli missiles.
Additional explosions were heard in Hawsh al-Sayyid Ali village.
Some media video footage showed huge plumes of thick black smoke rising from the targeted sites.
Syria’s al-Watan Online newspaper, citing informed sources, reported that five people were killed and several others wounded during the strikes.
The Israeli airstrike against the crisis-hit Arab nation comes amid the regime’s bloody onslaught against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, and its devastating offensives on Lebanon.
Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on Gaza, including hospitals, residences, and houses of worship, since Palestinian resistance movements launched their surprise attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, against the regime on October 7.
At least 43,204 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed while another 9101,640 individuals have sustained injuries.
The Lebanese Health Ministry says Israeli attacks have killed 45 people in Lebanon in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 2,865 since October 2023.
Israel frequently targets military positions inside Syria, especially those of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah which has played a key role in helping the Syrian army in its fight against foreign-backed terrorists.
The Tel Aviv regime rarely comments on its attacks on Syrian territories, which many see as a knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government’s phenomenal success in confronting and decimating terrorism.
Israel has been the principal supporter of terrorist groups that oppose the democratically-elected government of President Bashar al-Assad since the foreign-backed militancy erupted in Syria.
