A hospital in northern parts of the war-ravaged Gaza Strip reports that the depletion of medical supplies has prevented it from delivering healthcare services, as Israeli airstrikes have repeatedly targeted hospitals and medical centers across the besieged Palestinian territory over the past year.
In a statement on Wednesday, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital sounded the alert, warning that his hospital could no longer “provide healthcare services to the injured and sick due to the depletion of medical supplies.”
“More than 150 people in the hospital are in critical condition. Every passing minute could cost the lives of the injured. The types of medicines and medical supplies have reached zero in the hospital due to the Israeli siege,” the director added.
The warning comes as all three major hospitals in the northern territory area are out of service, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
“We cannot provide blood units for the wounded, and every hour an injured person turns into a martyr due to the lack of medical supplies and tools,” the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital further warned, stressing that “the world must act, as there is a real massacre and Israeli genocide affecting everyone in the northern part of the strip.”
Meanwhile, Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza Munir Al-Barash said in a statement that a doctor and nurse lost their lives after being hit by an Israeli drone strike near Kamal Adwan Hospital.
“The Israeli army continues to besiege hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip, killing and displacing citizens and forcibly removing them from shelters. Hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip are without medicine, water or food, and the Israeli army prevents international organizations from entering to provide relief,” he said.
Al-Barash also warned that “the situation in the northern Gaza Strip is bitter, and the Israeli army is committing war crimes in full view of the world.”
The developments come as the Israeli military has been intensified its bombing and shelling campaign of northern Gaza, killing and wounding an increasing number of civilians. It has also blocked the entry of humanitarian aid, including fuel to hospitals, medical necessities and food supplies.
