Hezbollah strikes Kiryat Shmona in response to Israeli aggression
The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah says its fighters shelled the Kiryat Shmona settlement with a barrage of Katyusha rockets in retaliation for the Israeli regime’s attacks on civilians in Lebanon.
Israeli Channel 12 confirmed direct hits in the settlement, including near a bus station, resulting in a fire, and also power outage. Several settlers have been reported injured.
Avichai Stern, the so-called mayor of Kiryat Shmona, has advised residents to stay near protected areas until further notice.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli regime conducted a strike on the town of al-Abbasiya, injuring 17 people. Four of those wounded are in critical condition, including a 17-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, an eight-year-old girl, and a Lebanese woman.
The Lebanese health ministry said in a statement that an "Israeli enemy" strike on the southern town of Marjayoun killed two people and wounded four others, noting the toll was provisional.
The official National News Agency said an "enemy drone targeted a car" in the town square, a usually busy area home to shops. The health ministry also said one person was killed and another wounded in an "Israeli" strike in south Lebanon's Blida village.
In other anti-Israel operations, the Lebanese resistance deployed drones to target a newly established gathering of Israeli soldiers in northern Abirim.
Hezbollah also reported attacks on surveillance equipment at the Metula site and a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the Shtula woods.
Hezbollah also struck the Baghdadi site, Zebdine Barracks, and the Ramtha site with rockets.
The situation remains tense as the region awaits further retaliation from the Resistance in response to the Israeli assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr along with several civilians in an attack on a residential building in Beirut’s southern suburbs on July 30.
Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging deadly fire since early October 2023. The Lebanese resistance movement has vowed to continue its retaliatory attacks as long as the Israeli regime persists in its campaign of genocide in Gaza, which began after the October 7 Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by Hamas.
Hezbollah officials have repeatedly stated that they do not seek war with Israel but are prepared if it occurs.
