Israel bombs another refugee camp in Gaza, killing 9, including 5 kids
“Children were playing in the street,” when an Israeli airstrike targeted a gathering of civilians at a refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
Nine people, five children included, were killed.
The bombing struck the Bureij refugee camp on Tuesday, Palestine’s WAFA news agency reported, quoting residents.
Videos captured the arrival of the dead and injured children at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah.
Earlier in the day, the regime’s forces killed three Palestinians in the Tal as-Sultan neighborhood, in the west of Rafah in south Gaza.
Israeli Apache helicopters have also opened fire on area, according to Wafa news agency.
At least one person is reported to have been killed and a number of others wounded in the western areas of Rafah on Tuesday.
The recent fatalities add to data from the Gaza Health Ministry and brought the number of those killed across the territory to 33 since the morning.
Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), sounded alarm bells at a joint news conference with the Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi in Amman, saying, “What is happening in Gaza is a flagrant violation of international law and must be investigated.”
Lazzarini said at least 10 children lose a limb every day across the besieged territory. And nearly 17,000 children are no longer accompanied by their families, he said
He said half of the UN agency’s schools in Gaza have been bombed since the regime launched its relentless bombardment of Gaza in early October.
Lazzarini has said Israel's barbarous campaign in Gaza is a war against children.
According to the United Nations children’s agency (UNICEF) nearly 16,000 children were killed in the regime’s aggression against Gaza. It said another 21,000 children are also missing.
