Nouri’s release bespeaks Iran’s dignified diplomacy, MKO’s disgrace: MP
An Iranian lawmaker has described the release of Hamid Nouri, a former judiciary official, from illegal detention in Sweden, as an indicative of the Islamic Republic’s "authority and dignified diplomacy” that brought “disgrace” to the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group.
Speaking on Tuesday, Iran's second Deputy Parliament Speaker Ali Nikzad said that Nouri’s freedom was “another slap in the face” of the MKO terrorists.
“The release of Hamid Nouri shows in one hand Iran’s authority and dignified diplomacy, and on the other hand, it is a major defeat for the MKO and the Zionists,” he added.
Nikzad also thanked Iran’s Foreign Ministry for its efforts that led to Nouri’s release after a five-year imprisonment in Sweden without any valid legal arguments.
Nouri arrived at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport on Saturday.
He was arrested upon arrival at Stockholm Airport in November 2019 and immediately imprisoned over unfounded allegations promoted by elements representing the MKO. The terrorist cult has openly boasted about carrying out terrorist operations against Iranian officials and civilians.
He spent three and a half years of his unlawful imprisonment in Sweden in solitary confinement.
