Anti-imperialist alliance

French influence is rapidly eroding over its former colonies in Africa.

Since the 19th century, French colonization had culminated in a monopolized sphere of influence in West and North Africa.

But things are now falling apart. A wind of change is sweeping across this resource-rich African region.

West Africans are gradually rejecting French influence and they are blaming this former colonial master for the rampant poverty and insecurity in the region.

The nations in the region are now charting a new path and the future looks bright.

The foreign ministers of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger recently kick-started a process of creating a confederation as part of a long-term goal of uniting the West African neighbors within a federation.

This new political dispensation will be devoid of the neo-colonial French influence.

Is West Africa entering a new dawn of progress and the end of French imperialism?
