Russia has repelled Ukraine's drones in its latest attack, targeting Moscow and other cities.
Russia’s air defense system shot down two combat drones heading for the capital, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said Tuesday.
In a statement on his Telegram channel, Sobyanin said that one of the drones was destroyed in the vicinity of the Minskoye Highway and the other in the Domodedovo area.
He noted that there were no injuries due to falling drone debris and that the authorities were working at the scene.
Russian authorities reported that Ukraine carried out attacks on Moscow with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on July 24, 28 and 30 and Aug. 1 and 6 and there were no dead or injured.
The number of drone missile and drone strikes against Russia has dramatically increased in past weeks as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently hinted at a change in Kiev’s failed tactics.
Ukraine launched a hyped counteroffensive in early June after multiple postponements.
Till now, the counteroffensive against Russia has been to no avail.
The Kremlin's Spokesman Dmitry Peskov earlier said that Kiev’s counteroffensive, which was launched on June 4, has been unsuccessful on all fronts as Russia continues its special military operation in Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out that Zelensky is compromising the United States by launching drone attacks against civilian targets, trying to blackmail the White House, and its allies, into sending Kiev more money, weapons and munitions despite the Nazi regimes failure to succeed in its stated military objectives.
In this regard, a US senator revealed why he is against sending any aid to Ukraine, expressing his strong doubt regarding the Kiev regime’s chances in its counteroffensive against Russia's military.
Kiev “can’t win” against Russia, despite the vast military aid being pumped to fight the West’s proxy war against Moscow there, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), speaking on The Ingraham Angle on Monday.
The senior Republican senator explained to US media, "Yes, we’re not getting the point in Washington, DC …At the end of the day, it’s a junior high team playing a college team. They can’t win.”
What Washington is doing is “trying to get everybody’s eye off the real problem,” which is “the Biden administration and the Democrats. They’re a total disaster,” according to the Republican senator.
Meantime, Russian forces thwarted six Ukrainian attempted attacks in the Svatovo and Krasny Liman directions, with the enemy losing some 60 soldiers, Alexander Savchuk, the chief press correspondent at Russia's Center Group of Forces told Russian media.
"Units of the Center Group of Forces, supported by artillery fire and air strikes, have thwarted and repulsed six attempted attacks by assault groups of the 21st and 42nd Mechanized Brigades and the 68th Jaeger Brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces during the active defense on the occupied lines. The enemy's losses amounted to about 60 soldiers," head of the press center told Sputnik.
Savchuk added that an infantry fighting vehicle, an armored vehicle and two pickup trucks have been destroyed. The forces have also hit two Ukrainian strongholds, a command and observation post and two temporary military personnel hubs.
Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine On February 24, 2022, aiming to liberate the Donbas region where the People's Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev's forces.
In the meantime, the collective West continues to flood Kiev with weapons while slapping economic sanctions on Moscow.
In related news, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on phone with his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.
The two leaders discussed preparations for the upcoming BRICS summit, as well as bilateral cooperation.
In the meantime, senior officials from over 40 countries gathered in Jeddah this week to discuss about possible ways as to how to end Ukraine's war. However, Russia says without Moscow’s participation in the two-day meeting hosted by Saudi Arabia the gathering lacks legitimacy.
