Hackers continue to target Israeli websites; Netanyahu’s Facebook page taken over

A hacker group has carried out a cyber attack against an Israeli institution, stealing the data of 500,000 users, the latest in a series of cyber operations across the occupied territories.

Hebrew-language media outlets reported that a group, known as “Sharp Boys”, has targeted the Atid institution on Wednesday, and put the stolen information on sale after publishing part of it, including a file containing 200,000 names, identification numbers and addresses of the students.

The hacker group further claimed that it had obtained the personal information of Israelis, including identification documents of people who served in the military and police forces of the occupying regime.

Atid is an Israeli institution that includes seven vocational training and four engineering colleges in the occupied al-Quds. Since its inception in 1990, Atid has trained hundreds of thousands of individuals to be elected as officials of the occupying regime.

The latest development comes as a number of major Israeli websites have been hacked in the past 24 hours.

Also earlier in the day, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Facebook page was hacked.

According to Israeli media, the premier’s page was filled with Quran verses, notes in Persian, and a clip containing texts in Bengali.

Dozens of Israeli websites targeted by pro-Palestine hacker groups in 48 hours

Various pro-Palestinian hacker groups knock offline the websites of dozens of prominent Israeli companies and institutions in a show of solidarity with Palestinians.

A group of Sudanese hackers, calling itself “Anonymous Sudan”, claimed on its Telegram channel to have hacked the premier’s official website, though it may have been referring to the Facebook page.

The group also said it had targeted Israeli news outlets, government websites and political web pages, adding that it will continue its hacks throughout the day.

The websites of Israeli Ports Company and Haifa Port were among those hacked. Israeli media reported that the cyber attack has disabled these websites, but apparently, no information was stolen from them.

Wednesday’s cyber attacks came two days after Anonymous Sudan targeted the websites of the Israeli spy agency Mossad, the so-called internal security service Shin Bet, and several other companies across the occupied territories.

The Hebrew-language Maariv daily newspaper reported on Monday that various Israeli websites were knocked offline due to a widespread cyber attack by the Sudanese group.

Among those targeted were television, communication companies, banks, service companies, universities, newspapers, and Israel’s water company.

All of the websites appeared to be working normally as of Wednesday evening.

Hackers attack Israel’s Technion University, demand over $1.7 million in ransom

A group of hackers has launched a cyber attack against top Israeli technology school, the Technion University, and demanded over $1.7 million in ransom.

Anonymous Sudan also took down the websites of Ben Gurion International Airport and Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) on Saturday, according to Hebrew-language media outlets.

In the past few weeks, the websites of various centers of the Israeli regime have been targeted by cyber attacks.

An Indonesian hacker group carried out a massive cyber attack against a number of Israeli websites last week, including those of the ministries of foreign affairs, education and health.

The Jerusalem Post newspaper reported that the group, calling itself VulzSecTeam, announced on April 17 that it had managed to break into the websites of the Israeli education, health and foreign ministries, as well as Israel police and bus and train companies in recent days, and took them down.
