Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar was gripped by fear and chaos after a bomb ripped through a mosque situated close to the police headquarters. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals by rescue workers. Crowds were seen hurrying to the blast site and hospitals in search of their loved ones.
Following the attack, the government of Pakistan vowed to continue its fight against terrorists.
Experts say the Pakistani government needs to take up the issue of growing terrorism with neighboring Afghanistan. The Tehreek-e Taliban Pakistan militants who have claimed many bombings are said to be hiding in Afghanistan while carrying out attacks inside Pakistan once in a while.
Pakistan has been facing a resurgence of violent attacks in recent months. Analysts believe the government has to deal decisively with the Taliban militants to maintain peace and economic stability in the country.
