Hamas has called on the Palestinians to ramp up resistance against the Israeli occupation and stand up to the regime’s forces and settlers by all means available to fight settlement expansion.

Fawzi Barhoum, the spokesman of the resistance movement, said in a statement on Sunday that the Tel Aviv regime had fenced a large swath of land in Khirbet Ihmir in the Jordan Valley community of al-Farisiya to “annex the area to be later used for colonial settlement expansion.”

“Such a move is a crime added to the repeated Israeli violations against the Palestinian lands, people, and holy sites,” the Hamas official said.

Barhoum said the regime’s “non-stop policy of displacement and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people will not succeed in wiping out the historical features of Palestine. Neither will it deter our people from continuing their freedom struggle until liberation and return.”

The Israeli regime continues to press ahead with its settlement expansion and land grab policies across the occupied Palestinian territories despite international outcry.

Most of the international community considers Israeli settlement construction illegal under international law.

Nearly 700,000 Israelis live in illegal settlements built since the 1967 occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds.

The UN Security Council has in several resolutions condemned the regime’s settlement projects on the occupied Palestinian land.

Palestinians want the West Bank as part of a future independent state with East al-Quds as its capital.
