Advanced civil defense systems installed across Iran

Iranian defense ministry’s second in command Brigadier General Mehdi Farahi

Iran’s defense ministry has supplied modern equipment needed to perform civil defense duties to 51 Iranian cities and towns amid plans by the government to shore up the country’s defenses against potential sabotage operations, including cyber attacks by Israel and the United States.

Iranian defense ministry’s second in command Brigadier General Mehdi Farahi said on Saturday that the new equipment will enable operators to identify and monitor threats and to provide hardware and software required to show a quick response to the risks facing the country.

Farahi said the defense ministry has been closely cooperating with Iran’s Civil Defense Organization in a bid to boost the country’s capability to counter “complicated threats”, including cyber warfare and chemical and biological attacks.

“Today, the form of the battles has become more complicated depending on how powerful countries are so that hybrid warfare has replaced classic and traditional wars,” he was quoted as saying by the semi-official Fars news agency.

Iran has been subject to cyber attacks and sabotage operations by Israel and the United States in recent years, causing the country to adopt measures to boost its defenses against such threats.

Authorities say computer systems in various government ministries have been equipped with modern software and hardware systems to prevent attacks that could cause widespread outages and affect public services.
