Like every other Eids on the Islamic calendar, Afghan Muslims celebrate Eid al-Ghadir with diverse ceremonies. In one of the festivities on this occasion, a total of 70 couples tied the knot in a mass wedding in Kabul.

The organizers of the ceremony and participants said that in addition to celebrating Eid al-Ghadir, the initiative was aimed at promoting the Islamic culture, ease marriage for the young generation and to cut back on wedding expenses.

In another festival, Kabul residents colorfully decorated a popular shrine to celebrate Eid al-Ghadir. They also offered prayers and stressed the importance of commemorating historical and religious events.

While Afghan people are going through different hardships, such gatherings prove that their passion to mark important religious and cultural occasions has not lessened.

People here take Eid al-Ghadir as an opportunity to renew allegiance with their first Imam. They also call for unity and solidarity among Muslims globally.
