Republicans are favored to take control of the US Congress in midterm elections in November this year, according to a new Harvard CAPS-Harris poll.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden’s overall approval rating has dropped to record levels amid Americans' concern about war and inflation.

According to a new NBC News poll published on Tuesday Biden’s overall approval rating has declined to just 40 percent.

Seven in 10 Americans expressed low confidence in Biden's ability to deal with Russia's military operation in Ukraine and 63 percent frankly disapproved of his handling of the US economy.

Other polls were also showed that the President and Democrats were facing a tough situation in the 2022 general elections and the 2024 presidential election.

A new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released exclusively to The Hill on Monday indicated that Republicans were favored by most Americans to win back control of Congress in this year’s upcoming midterm elections.

When asked in the interview whether they would choose a Republican or Democrat to Congress, the GOP voters led the Democrats by a 53-to-47 percent margin.

According to the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey also released exclusively to The Hill on Monday, Biden and Democrats were also headed to a troubled presidential election.

The poll results of a hypothetical match-up suggested that if the 2024 US presidential election were held right now, former US President Donald Trump was winning 47 percent of the votes compared to 41 percent for Biden, while 12 percent of voters were undecided.

Vice President Harris performed even worse in the hypothetical match-up with Trump.

Forty-nine percent said they would choose Trump, while 38 percent said they would vote for Harris as president.
