Over World Wrestling Championships in Oslo, Iranian freestyler Hassan Yazdani has set up a tantalizing final clash against his nemesis David Taylor of the USA.
Iran’s 86kg category champion Yazdani who received a bye in the first round, dismantled opponents from Kazakhstan, and Porto Rico en route to the semis, where he outmuscled Artur Naifonov of the Russian Wrestling Federation 8-2.
Iran’s no. 1 will now seek revenge over Taylor in the final, as the American beat him on multiple occasions, the latest of which being in the Tokyo Olympics gold medal match.
Meanwhile, heavy-weight wrestler Amir Hossein Zare secured another podium for Iran, as he shutout Olympic gold medalist Taha Akgul of Turkey 4-nothing in the last 4 to reach the final bout of the 125 kg class.
In the showpiece event, Zare will take on Geno Petriashvili of Georgia, who defeated him in the semifinals of the Tokyo games.
