Cristiano Ronaldo has scored twice on his return to Manchester United after 12 years, as the hosts cruised to a 4-1 victory against Newcastle.
CR7 announced his arrival in style with a tap-in from close range after Mason Greenwood’s shot was spilled by the visiting keeper in first-half added time.
Newcastle almost spoiled the party in the 56th minute when Javier Manquillo levelled the match with a first-time effort.
But less than 10 minutes later, Ronaldo received a through-ball near the box and rifled in a low shot through the keeper’s legs to restore Man United's advantage.
Then in the 80th minute, Bruno Fernandes curled a shot into the top corner from the edge of the area, before substitute Jesse Lingard completed a marvelous teamwork with a neat finish in stoppage time to send Manchester United to the top of the Premier League table.
